Discharge/Reduction Agent is a strong color remover used as a discharge medium for a wide spectrum of dyes. It is also used as a strong reduction agent for the fixation of vat dyes. It is most commonly used in the printing processes.

Discharge Recipe for Cellulosics and Silks
- 1 quart/0.95 L water
- 1/4 cup/57 g Urea
- 60 ml ammonia (Soda Ash can be used, but neutralize after process)
- 2 to 2.5 tsp/10-13 g Sodium Alginate
- approximately 140 ml Jacquard Discharge/Reduction Agent
Starting with water, add Urea and ammonia. Stir until completely dissolved. Slowly sprinkle Sodium Alginate over solution, stirring constantly for 10 minutes, or mix in blender until smooth. Let stand for 1 hour, add Jacquard Discharge/Reduction Agent and stir again.
Note: Sodium Alginate can be increased or decreased to achieve desired consistency and is optional. Steam to activate.
CAUTION! A very strong odor is given off during the steaming process. Contact with eyes and skin may cause irritation. Ingestion may result in gastric disturbance. Inhalation of vapors while ironing may result in respiratory irritation. Wear appropriate organic vapor mist respirator if necessary. Use in well ventilated area. Keep this product away from children.
