Allie Pisarro-Grant is an artist living and working in New York. Her painting practice utilizes historical strategies of non-composition in order to explore the subjectivity of the artist and the autonomy of the artwork.
The use of chance, balanced with controls like color-mixing and the use of acetate stencils, allows her to investigate strategies including the collapse of image and field, the use of the grid, and the monochrome.
While containing art-historical references such as Pointillism and the Autochrome Lumière, the questions the work poses are rooted in daily life, evoking the aesthetic form of things such as mold growth, pollen distribution, and the transmission of digital information.
