I love this way of personalizing photographs. It’s an easy technique that makes your subject stand out
and can cover up uninteresting or distracting backgrounds.
|
Materials:
- Jacquard colors of your choice:
- Photo
- Sandpaper
- Paintbrushes
- Stamps
|
-
Start with a photograph that you want to alter.
-
Sand away the background that you want to get rid of. I usually use a finer grade to do most of the sanding and then a coarser grade to add some deeper scratches and texture. I will usually leave a halo or shadow around the subject to make it stand out more. If your background is light, you can darken it with paint.
-
Paint the background using a combination of Lumiere or Textile Colors in colors that compliment your subject. I generally use a few colors and let the colors and brushstrokes add more texture. Let dry.
-
With the Pearl Ex Stamp Pads stamp onto the background being careful to mask off your subject so that the stamping stays on the background area.
It's that easy!
