Jacquard Methocel

Methocel is a less expensive synthetic replacement for carrageenan.

Stir approximately 1 oz. of methocel into 1 gallon of water at room temperature. Stir in 1 teaspoon of clear household ammonia. Let stand 15-20 minutes and stir again. It is now ready for use.
