I've never used acid dyes before, and want to dye heavy-weight charmeuse silk (19.5 mm) for the dress I'll be wearing to my daughter's wedding. And, I want to put some design into the fabric - a friend suggested overdyeing, using a shibori technique. I want it to be subtle, and have a concern that doing this twice in my washing machine will really shrink the fabric. Any ideas on how to go about this?
