Painting acid dyes onto warps
  • Is it possible to get a good delineation by painting acid dyes onto a threaded wool warp, weaving off the fabric after the dyes have dried, and then heat setting the dyes into the fabric?
  • I have never tried anything like this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work... You'll need to steam set the dyes (not heat set, which implies dry heat). Have you steam set dyes before? It will also be important that your dye solution is not overly concentrated. (In general, you don't want to use more than about 5 grams of dye per liter of water...) Also, I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "good deliniation," but it seems to me you should be able to achieve decent results using these methods...
