best silver product for large coverage
  • Looking to cover a large surface (approx 4'x8') of raw unfinished canvas in a shimmery silver. Any recommends on the best Jacquard product to use?
Looking at screen print ink and Lumiere. Any experiences covering a large surface area w/ these products?
  • Yes! Lumiere works great for this type of application. I think that is your best bet. Screen ink will also work well, although screen inks won't level the way Lumiere will, unless you can apply a thin layer using a screen, roller or squeegee. Screen inks will also produce a harder and less porous surface, which may not be desirable if you want to paint on top of your silver background. (Jacquard Screen inks will go on top of each other well, and can even be used as beautiful, SLOW DRYING acrylics). Another option would be PearEx (http://jacquardproducts.com/pearl-ex-pigments.html), which are powdered mica pigments you can mix with practically any viscous medium (extenders, acrylic gel mediums, wax, etc). This might give you more control of your "shimmer." You also might consider our new truly metallic alcohol inks (http://jacquardproducts.com/pinata-alcohol-ink.html). These might not produce the best surface for painting on top of, however, as they are formulated with real metal pigments and a hydrophobic resin. I hope this is helpful! Good luck!
