Getting ink out of screen fabric.
  • I teach high school and my students are being introduced to screen printing for the first time. Needless to say they are not as careful with making sure the ink on their screens isn't getting dry around the edges of their printing area and I already have a few spots of dry ink around the edges of the screens. Is there any way to get the ink out of the screens? A chemical that will dissolve it but not my screen? We are using regular vertex and silver and gold metalics.
  • If the paint isn't super dry, then you can try blasting it out with some pressurized water. A hose with a powerful nozel is a good choice. However, the pressure may also start to knock away at your screened image causing you to lose definition. However, if the paint has thoroughly dried, then you have probably lost the screen for good.
