Another steam setting question
  • I am airbrushing Acid dye onto habotai silk and I was wondering if setting the dye in the dryer would work. The piece is 12 feet by 8 feet and I just do not have a pot big enough to fit all that fabric!

I know that vinegar will not set the dye from previous threads, but if I use vinegar and the dryer, will that work?

    Thanks
  • We don't think that a dryer would work. You can try an online search for chemical fixatives for acid dyes. Our iDye Fixative might work, but we don't know for sure. Or, you could try to find someone who owns our vertical fabric steamer who is willing to steam the piece for you. If you are looking to paint pieces this big on a regular basis, then it might be time to invest in the professional fabric steamer. Or, you might also want to consider using a paint instead of a dye.
