Pearl Ex Pigments - Help Question
  • Hi, I am new to this site and find all the threads interesting.
I am trying to find out how I can apply pearl ex metallic pigments to a cement craft that I am doing. Can someone tell me if I just brush on the dry pigment powder or should I (can I) mix it with a white paint or something?
    I would appreciate any response.
  • You'll need to use a clear bonding medium of some sort with the PearlEx
on your project. Some possibilities are the PearlEx Varnish, the Colorless Extender from the Textile Paint line, Dorland's Wax,
or nearly any other clear product that will hold the PearlEx to the surface of the piece.
  • Thank-you very much for your reply.
I will try one of those mediums.
  • Hey there,

I use a combination of Grumbacher Gel for a flat finish, or Weber Res-n-gel for a glossier/shinier finish. I just dip the brush into the gel, then the powder, then work it into the canvas. Layering it up looks great!!!
