What to put under fabric when painting?
  • So I tested out some Jacquard Dye-na-Flow and some Textile on my organza fabric... the only problem was that the paint went right through the fabric and mostly stayed on the paper I was using underneath. I expected that to happen, and if it would've stayed put I'd have been fine, but it spread out on the paper and then transferred to other parts of the fabric! What should I put under my fabric while painting, to prevent this from happening?
  • I use 1/2" styrofoam insulation that I buy in large sheets from the lumber yard and cut down to fit the fabric. I pin the fabric to the foam, paint with Jacquard Dye-na-Flow, lay out the objects to reverse in the sun light. It works very well. I paint in my garage to keep the sun from drying the paints too fast and then step out into the driveway. I keep several of these boards going on a good sunny calm day.
