keeping white white when idyeing on the stove...
  • my garments look great after dyeing/untying. However, during the rinsing process... the colors are bleeding and obliterating all of my tied off white areas.... bummed and not sure where I'm missing a step... I'm using salt when dyeing and synthrapol while hand rinsing in the sink.
  • Synthrapol is supposed to be the solution to this, but I see you are already doing this. It might be useful for you to do a hot soak before you remove the ties. I would get a 2nd container fill it with hot water and soak it in synthrapol soapy water before you remove the ties. I would let it soak for 45 min and that should protect your tied off areas. Give it a good rinse after that and then remove your ties.

Also, I have been finding that the solar fast wash is better at preventing back staining like this even better than synthrapol...
  • great tips! thank you!
