Tye-dying a prom dress
  • Hello All,

I looking for the right dye/paint to tye-dye a vintage prom dress of questionable fabric(it's old and has no tags anywhere). The dress seems to be a mixture of poly or taffita? but has no inner shell. It's just cying for some spicing up with color.

I'm used to only working/dying cottom fabrics.

    Any help would be great.

  • Hi,
Not knowing the fabric type for sure makes it difficult to recommend a dye. If it has polyester in it Dye-Na-Flow, which is a very flowable paint will work on that.

  • Celia,

Thank you for the response. I ended up going to the A.C. Moore and they sold the Jacquard fabric paint. I watered the paint done and put it in squirt bottles. Kept it bound over night. Then heat set it in the dryer... It worked great!

You have great products! Thanks again!
