Solar Fast keeps developing
  • Hello !

I have quite a problem...On thin cotton textile (sheets for example), the ink seems to still develop even after a laundry with solar fast wash....
I also has happened to me on t-shirts. The ink would leak out of the design, just like if was too much paint.

I hope you can help ! It's quite problematic as I sell my items and am afraid of the developing after they're sold !

    thank you.
    Mat
  • Really the answer is about the same as the one about paper. Soaking has been my go to method for awhile. Somehow just soaking in the Solar Fast really removes the dye. I made this video about screen printing solar fast, but the washing step for clothing including rinsing from behind in hot water is really helpful I think. It is the method i have used most successfully.

  • I just saw this! Thanks !

In the link you posted, I just see the clothes being washed in the machine at the end...do you mean there is soaking in Solar fats wash first prior to machine wash ?
  • You can do either way. I used to not have a washing machine in NYC, so I would just soak the solar fast garment in hot water with solar fast wash for 45 min and it was as good as washing it. When I have a machine, I like to soak it for 15 min or so before I wash in hot water, and then c9ontiunue the cycle. It is actually amazing how helpful the soak is espe3cially if you are using any of the greens, yellow, or sepia. The yellow is the hardest color to remove, and it works much better with a hot soak
