Mixing dyes to create colour
  • Hello
I need to dye some fabric a dusty rose so need advise on how to mix dyes, if can and which colours to use.... I really hope someone can help :)
  • Hi Heidi,

    Thanks for writing in.
Your question is one that we get a lot. Unfortunately, advising for specific color mixes is very tricky. First to consider, just what does 'dusty rose' look like? Though we could probably agree that it is a muted, slightly drabbed, pinkish color in deeper tones, that still gives a broad range of color to work with. We can give you some starting places, but to achieve the color you are after will take some testing and good record keeping.
If you check at our Procion MX page (http://jacquardproducts.com/assets/jacquard-site/product-pages/dyes/procion-mx/Procion_Color_Mixing_Chart_2012.pdf) you'll see that we have made some effort to create a color mixing chart for the Procion MX. There are some color mixes there that could be good places to start - perhaps the Antique Rose or the Rose, muted with some Warm Black. This does assume you are working with the Procion MX dyes, dyeing natural fiber.
Don't hesitate to write back if you are working with another dye or have other questions.

    hope this helps,
