I am screen printing on small wood pieces finished in ca glue to a polished mirror finish. My problem is getting the ink to set permanently. At the moment the ink easily rubs off with a nail or strong rub. Using Jacquard #119 super opaque white. Can this heated? How much? How long? These are small pieces so I can even put them in a toaster oven if need be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hello. It's hard to say whether or not the ink will stick without knowing the makeup of the finish on the wood. However, heating it certainly would be a good place to start. I would try 250-300 F for 2-3 minutes, let it cool down and try scratching it again. If it still comes off, there is something in the coating that won't allow the ink to adhere. I few polymers (like teflon or polyethylene) will not allow the ink to stick. Good luck! Monte
