Acid Dye stock solution problem: Yellow Jello!
  • Hey, all.

I'm new to dyeing, but I'm having so much fun. Mostly i'm doing wool rovings and then spinning them.

Last night, I took the advice of a few dye books and made up a stock solution for each of the colors I have. Everything looked fine, each primary color strong and liquid... but this morning, the yellow solution was opaque, gelatinous, and downright strange looking.

The red had thickened, as well, but was still clear. The other colors were just fine.

I tried out a few drops in a hot cup of water, and the yellow SEEMS to be ok. But I can't figure out what I did wrong.

    Thoughts?
