Jacquard screen printing ink
  • Hello.

I was just wondering how the new Jacquard screen printing inks do on dark colors of fabric? I know super opaque white will work but what about the rest of them?
  • The way I paint on dark fabric is to lay down an area of opaque white where the design will go. After that dries, I print the design with colored inks. It works great, design wise. But I've been wondering, technically, if this is the right thing to do. The white ink is on the fabric, but the subsequent colors are being printed onto the dry white areas, so are they more likely to flake or abrade off in the wash?
  • Hi,

Printing an area of white and then layering transparent colors on top of that white area is a good way to acheive bright colors on a dark background.

The colors should adhere quite well as it is an acrylic on top of an acrylic so long as long as they are heat set properly before washing.
