Fixing acid dyes
  • Hi! This is a fantastic forum!
Am I correct in understanding that heat is what fixes the acid dyes? I am dying many (400) yards of lightweight silk with Jacquard acid dyes using the stove top immersion method. Can I reuse the dye bath, if I add some more dye every time? The silk can be slightly different shades of the same color, and I am hoping I can speed up the process by not having to lug big tubs of hot water around... only, of course, if it won't compromise the process.
    Thanks for any advice!
