The best product to dye a silk dress?
  • I have a white 97% silk / 3% spandex, dress that I wish to dye to a very pale pink. I've heard I could use "Acid Dye, Procion MX or even RIT" but I do not know the difference between them and which one is the best to use on silk? Thanks for your help! :)
p.s. Sorry if is a silly question, but I am new to all this...
  • Spandex is heat-sensitive, so I'd recommend a cool water fiber reactive dye, such as Procion MX, with soda ash as the dye fixative. Acid dyes and all-purpose dyes (Rit is an all-purpose dye) require heat in order to bond to the fabric.
