methods for setting the dye
  • I've experimented with several ways to "set" the dye, from the stove top method where I bring it up to 190-200 oF, to steam setting.

I've also heard that people have used microwaves to set dye in things that are hand painted ("cold pour method"). What length of time would be needed in a microwave to set the jacquard acid dyes? If I decided to try that , how damp should the yarn/fiber be? If the material being dyed already had vinegar sprayed on it, or if it were pre-soaked in a colored dye bath than I assume for the microwave method that you would not need to add additional vinegar during the process?
