help with acid dye
  • I ordered the acid dye and want to use it on a blend that is 50% polyester. Does anyone, know if this will work?
  • Acid dye won't take on polyester, but if the rest of the blend is silk, wool, or nylon, that part of the fiber should take it, if you follow the recipe closely. That means that 50% of your fiber will be dyed, and 50% undyed, probably resulting in a pastel and/or heathered effect.

If the blend can tolerate extensive boiling, you could boil it with iDye Poly to dye the polyester part, too. You might get interesting effects if you choose a polyester dye that is a different color than the acid dye.
