Dyeing Slinky Fabric
  • I am dyeing slinky fabric to use for some dance costumes. I will be trying to create a "water" type feel. I will be using Dynaflow dyes. I was planning on washing the fabric in Synthrapol. I'm sort of following some instructions on "pickle jar" dying. Should I soak the slinky fabric in sodium carbonate and soda ash fixer prior to putting in the dye?

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Hi,
Dye-na-flow is an acrylic and needs nothing other than heat to fix it. All of the other chemicals you mentioed are for use with other dye stuffs and shouldn't be used wuth DNF. Below is is a link to the dye-na-flow instructions.
