Steal Pot for dyeing on the stove
  • I'm wondering if I can use a steal bucket for heating silk or wool on the stove when I'm dying it? The buckets I have in mind were made to hold paint. I stored plaster in them for many years, and for the last 15, they have sat empty in my garage. I have some wool yardage I want to over dye and some silk garments I want to dye new colors.

Your directions say to use stanless steal or enameled steal. Wouldn't plain steal do, as long as it is without rust? I can understand that aluminum would react with the chemicals in the dye. What about plain steal?

    Thanks
