I'm using Jacquard Green Label Silk Dyes on Silk Habotai 8mm Scarves. Usually 14 or 15" by 60 to 72". Is it possible to use a pressure cooker to steam them in rather than the "homemade stove top pan steamer"? Is it the steam or the pressure that sets the color? Any idea as to how long and at what pressure? I love the Jacquard silk products... It's becoming addictive and I want to steam set the pieces as I like using the no flow product and intermixing the watercolor techinques. Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi there,

It is the steam that sets the dyes rather than any pressure. One thing to keep in mind is temperature - You do want about 190 - 200 degree F, but going above 220 degree F could result in a breakdown of the dye. Using the pressure cooker without the pressure should be just fine, though.
