Screen printing is still the best way to reproduce artwork on a large scale. Logos, symbols, and halftone prints can be recreated infinitely by making a simple photo emulsion screen. In this class we will cover the basics, and then delve deeper to find ways to push screen printing and take advantage of new materials to make unique prints from a technique most associate with mass production. If you are interested in printing on your own fabric or paper, please bring it along with you.

Dorland’s Wax is a cold wax medium that can be used in all types of mixed media and oil painting. It can even be used as a varnish on watercolor paintings. Cold wax is a great alternative for encaustic painters who want to avoid the heat. In this class we will discuss the different uses of cold wax, and then make “cold encaustic” paintings using Dorland’s wax, Pearl Ex powdered pigments, and Pinata alcohol inks. Do encaustic the easy way with a brush instead of a stove. MATERIALS INCLUDED
